The Academy’s third term begins on Monday 16 September and ends on Friday 29 November.

Fees are $130.00 for the term and these may be paid monthly.

JOY RUKANZA PRESENTS THE MATTERMOREFORSIS ORCHESTRA
Join JoyRukanza for a night of unparalleled musical artistry with the MatterMoreForSis Orchestra, an immersive experience where she will perform her debut album, ‘MatterMoreForSis’, alongside an orchestra and an all-female choir.
JoyRukanza was born in Bulawayo and began her professional music career in 2014 after graduating magna cum laude at Bryn Mawr College in the United States. Since starting her career, Joy has released three records – Queendom, New Day and Roses. In addition, she has also released an online performance and executive-produced a music festival that showcased up-and-coming Zimbabwean new school talent; she also received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Music at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards in 2023.
JoyRukanza’s ‘MatterMoreForSis’ album narrates the poignant journey of a woman through unrequited love, with a double-barrelled title referencing metamorphosis. This concept draws parallels to the scientific transformation from an immature to an adult form. Firstly, it unfolds a love story where the protagonist endures various stages of grief following heartbreak before ultimately choosing to love again. Secondly, ‘MatterMoreForSis’ is an empowering ode to women, encouraging them to prioritize themselves amidst the sacrifices they often make for others.
The album has been beautifully arranged for an orchestral performance, where JoyRukanza will be joined by an all-female choir and orchestra, with each member contributing their unique talent to create a powerful, harmonious soundscape. Whether you’re a long-time fan of hers or experiencing her magic for the first time, this night promises to leave you inspired and awestruck.

St.Vincent is a comedy that had its premiere ten years ago on 5 September 2014 at the Toronto International Film Festival where it was voted runner-up for the People’s Choice Award. The grumpy and unpleasant Vincent McKenna (Bill Murray) is an angry and misunderstood Vietnam veteran with a drink problem, not to mention a wife with Alzheimer’s and a pregnant stripper girl-friend. After her divorce Maggie (Melissa McCarthy) moves with her son, 11 year old Oliver, to the next-door house and Vincent offers to look after Oliver while his mother is at work. He takes him to the races and bars and teaches him how to fight but when Maggie finds out, she tells Vincent that he can no longer see Oliver which doesn’t go down well with either of the pair…

FRIDAY 13 SEPTEMBER AT 6.30 P.M. FONTEYN AND NUREYEV: THE PERFECT PARTNERSHIPCarriages: 8.15 p.m.
This documentary traces Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev’s partnership from its inception in 1962 (in Giselle at Covent Garden) until Fonteyn’s retirement in 1979. It explores the contrasts in their backgrounds, personalities and dance qualities, and the mutually beneficial chemistry between them. It is illustrated with selections from their many film and video recordings, including An Evening with the Royal Ballet, Romeo and Juliet, and I am a Dancer, as well as news coverage of significant events in their lives. Substantial excerpts from Sir Frederick Ashton’s Marguerite and Armand, created for them in 1963, are preceded by commentaries by Ashton, Fonteyn and Nureyev; also featured is footage of a dress rehearsal of Birthday Offering, revived by Ashton in 1968, in which the choreographer is seen working with the two dancers.
